What you will find here comes from personal experiences: I tell what happened to me with the hope that, if someone recognizes the same symptoms, they can rush to the hospital and get the help they need.
Alongside my experience I also add more general information, the kind you might find elsewhere, but the core remains my direct testimony.
It is essential, however, that you go to the hospital accompanied: the person who goes with you must insist that all necessary tests are carried out. Don’t be intimidated: I met people who were sent away too soon and later suffered serious damage. Better one extra visit, one extra test, than risking your life.
Remember that you have paid taxes and doctors are (or should be) there, supported by those very contributions, to help those with health problems. Even if sometimes public narratives don’t make it seem so, your right to care is real, and Italy will not collapse because of a check-up that turned out to be unnecessary.
