Healthcare

Healthcare in Italy: my experience

When I returned to Italy as a foreign resident, even though I was an Italian citizen I no longer had the right to Italian healthcare: I could vote, but access to healthcare was limited to the emergency room for emergencies only.

Only after regaining Italian residence was I able to reapply for registration with the National Health Service. The process, however, was far from simple: documents, different offices, delays, and unclear procedures.

These very difficulties convinced me to open this site, so that anyone in a situation similar to mine can find useful information and face bureaucratic steps with less stress.
